Fudan Team Develops Intraoperative 3D Pathology Platform with Label-Free Imaging in 30 Minutes

A collaborative team from Fudan University, led by Shi Lixue and Ji Minbiao, has developed a rapid 3D pathology technology called ULTRA that can perform label-free imaging and generate virtual staining results within about 30 minutes, as published in Cell. The technology combines tissue clearing, stimulated Raman scattering microscopy, and AI-based image processing to address the limitations of 2D section sampling in intraoperative pathology, providing more comprehensive 3D information for diagnosing brain tumors like glioma.
