On July 27, 2026, at a small event in San Francisco, Microsoft unveiled its first cybersecurity-specific model, MAI-Cyber-1-Flash, along with the Perception agent security platform. According to Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman, the model is designed to "find critical vulnerabilities in complex codebases" and powers the MDASH framework—Microsoft's tool for software vulnerability identification and remediation.
The Perception platform is built to deploy multiple groups of agents to assist and automate security workflows, including vulnerability identification and remediation. The platform includes red team (simulating potential attacks), blue team (detecting and classifying existing vulnerabilities), and green team (executing remediation operations). Microsoft's Vice President of Security, Hayete Gallot, stated that the platform aims to let enterprise defenders "fight AI with AI, at the scale and speed that attackers have."
Dave Weston, Principal Engineer for Perception, said the platform reduces tasks that previously required "hours of manual work and multiple security experts" to "minutes for remediation," not only finding and prioritizing issues but also providing detection, configuration fixes, and even code fixes.
