According to TechCrunch, AI lab Midjourney has acquired social astrology app Co-Star; terms of the deal were not disclosed. Co-Star is an app that helps users generate astrological birth charts and share them with friends, with content combining AI generation and human writing. The app has approximately 4.3 million monthly active users.
As part of the deal, Co-Star's team of about 24 people has joined Midjourney. TechCrunch notes that the team has extensive experience in consumer app development, which could help Midjourney eventually launch its own standalone app—currently, Midjourney primarily operates through Discord servers and lacks a standalone app.
