Einride and Lidl have begun daily public-road operations with a cab-less SAE Level 4 autonomous truck in Germany, running without a driver or onboard safety operator between a Lidl distribution site and store. The deployment operates under Germany's first permit of its kind from the Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), moving the project beyond a limited demonstration into regular retail logistics. Lidl, part of Schwarz Group, plans to expand the route into a multi-stop milkrun model and potentially add deployments across other Schwarz Group companies.
